Old and New
Old and New
Greetings Golfers,
Faked-out again!
Our superintendent - Barry - and I thought we we’re going to have an early opening this year. Probably not. Now we’re looking at the 2nd week in April … which is actually normal. Nothing wrong with that … just hope it stays nice once we open. Some years, it snows after we open … in April … and even in May!
I actually love getting it ready every year. Though there’s a lot to do … it’s fun, exciting and satisfying.
And I don’t mean that old saying “Out with the Old and In with the New”. Sure … we get rid of stuff … and get in new stuff. But we aren’t stuck on an agenda either way. Some people don’t like anything new … they’re stuck in the past. And some people don’t like anything old … they only want what is new.
What’s wrong with making your own combination of old and new?
We just got in our new flags and flag sticks … though new … they’re actually old-school. We think they’re really cool.
And … as I write this … the guys are here installing the new GPS on our new golf carts.
To me … the flags and carts represent the best of the old and new in golf.
And last night, I met some old friends at a bar in our home town.
Doesn’t mean I don’t have new friends … but I love seeing my old friends.
This shouldn’t be tricky. But our society is becoming too agenda driven.
Well … our “agenda” at DRGC is pretty simple: We want the best of old and new stuff … and when it comes to people … it’s not about old and new … it’s about not being a jerk.
Seems pretty simple to me.
Cheers,
